My Colourful World

Woodfold Primary School

The aim of this workshop was to introduce foundation children to the skills of weaving and collage. The theme 'My colourful world' is linked to the idea of identity and so each child created an individual woven panel in their favourite colours and shapes.

Weaving

St.Teresa's Catholic Primary School

The theme for this weaving project was textures and materials. Firstly the children each created a paper design inspired by the process of weaving.

Using the paper designs as inspiration the class then began weaving in large wooden frames. They used a wide variety of materials including paper, tinfoil and coloured acetate.

Throughout the day the children were each given a go at weaving on a four shaft dobby loom. The loom was threaded with cotton but the children added various materials for weft pieces. The end result was a beautiful mixed media wall hanging, which combined the traditional skills of weaving with contempory materials.

Can Buildings Speak?

St.James' Catholic Primary School

The aim of this project was to look at what buildings told us about themselves through the use of shape, texture and pattern. During the workshop each child created a piece of clay work inspired by the shapes that they had seen on buildings.

Under the Sea

The toddler group workshops ran every Friday for three months. Throughout the workshops the group created several pieces of artwork including paintings and 3D jellyfish. The artwork was then donated to The Rainbow Ward at Wigan Hospital.
